Steve Burlton , Associate Director

Steve began his career in construction in the mid 1990s when he joined a firm called SAS International. He soon moved to become a site manager at Astec Projects, progressing to becoming a senior project manager – a role he subsequently took up at Optima Partitioning Systems, where he was promoted to Divisional Manager. Rejoining SAS International in 2006, Steve served for some years as Contracts Director before moving to Lindner Prater as Operations Director in 2022. We were delighted when he joined Integra as Operations Director in October 2024.

Since joining us, Steve’s main focus has been on improving the operational activities of our longstanding project at Heathrow Airport. By working to streamline processes, his aim is to create the right conditions to get the best out of our teams. He says: “If you want to improve operations, you need to refine processes in ways that support people’s strengths and weaknesses and help them improve their capabilities. That way, workers are more motivated, teams are more complementary, outputs improve and we better meet our obligations to our clients.”

Steve likes the ethos and approach at Integra. “As a business, we don’t try and overcomplicate the way we work. I’ve had a lot of support in improving our processes, and every team member has a strong desire to do their best and improve. It’s a constantly evolving task, but when operational processes lead to more efficient results, it’s much easier to anticipate issues and deal with them before them become problems. It’s a virtuous circle.”

When he has some spare time, Steve likes to spend time with his family, work on home improvements and travel. He’s also a keen swimmer and a passionate clay pigeon shot. “I like to do practical things,” he said. “It helps to keep your mind fresh”.
