Gary Thursting , Project Director

Gary began his career by studying mechanical and electrical engineering, subsequently undertaking an apprenticeship at BAE Systems. While there, he worked in a variety of different departments, which helped his realise that he preferred hands-on work. As a result, he joined a small company specialising in drywall, ceilings and partitioning.

After two or three years, Gary and a friend set up their own business specialising in ceilings and partitions. From there, he joined Integra in a supervisory role. Since joining us, he has completed a variety of courses, building his knowledge and skills.

In his current role, Gary works on projects from their inception to their completion. At the pre-construction stage, he liaises with the client, agrees objectives and a programme of work. He likes to use his experience to create programmes that are effective and achievable. Then he plans, organises and delegates tasks as needed, also managing resources and liaising with project managers.

Gary likes the fast pace of his work, as well as responding to challenges and resolving problems. Working to tight schedules requires both quick thinking and good communication. He particularly enjoys the satisfaction of seeing projects through from start to handover. As he says, “Every day is a lesson”.

When he has some time to relax, Gary likes to spend time with his wife and young daughter and is also keen on watching sports.
